Who We Are
The Global Advocacy of Blind and Low Vision Muslims (GABLVM) is a worldwide community of blind and low vision Muslims dedicated to supporting one another as we strive to live an Islamic lifestyle while navigating life with visual impairment.
As Muslims, our lives are not only about navigating life with blindness. It is about navigating life as a person with blindness and faith, those who love Allah, His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and this beautiful Deen of Islam.
Our Mission
We believe that serving our community is highly rewardable by Allah, and it is for this that we strive: to be a means of helping improve the lifestyle of blind and low vision Muslims while earning the reward of Allah.
What We Do
Community Support
We support one another as Muslims striving to live an Islamic lifestyle while blind, creating a safe space where everyone can share ideas and experiences.
Resource Sharing
We provide and share resources that benefit the blind Muslim community, including accessible Islamic content and tools.
Advocacy
We advocate for facilitations that allow us to live, learn, and experience things that are beneficial and relevant to our lifestyles as Muslims.
Community Discussion
We engage in meaningful discussions related to blind Muslims, addressing challenges and celebrating successes together.
Accessible Tools
We develop accessible Islamic tools designed specifically with screen reader users in mind:
- Quran Player: Listen to Quran recitations with multiple reciters and translations
- Prayer Times: Get accurate prayer times based on your location
- Islamic Calendar: View the Hijri calendar with important Islamic dates
