Welcome to the Global Advocacy for Blind and Low Vision Muslims (GABLVM) community. We are a global community of blind and low vision Muslims united in faith and purpose. This Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to creating a supportive, respectful, and focused environment.
Our Purpose
GABLVM exists to:
- Support one another as Muslims striving to live an Islamic lifestyle while blind or low vision.
- Provide and share resources that benefit the blind Muslim community.
- Advocate for facilitations that allow us to live, learn, and experience things beneficial to our lifestyles as Muslims.
- Engage in meaningful discussions related to blind Muslims.
Our Focus
As Muslims, our lives are not only about navigating life with blindness. It is about navigating life as a person with blindness and faith - those who love Allah, His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and this beautiful Deen of Islam.
This community is a safe space for sharing ideas and thoughts on topics related to being blind and Muslim. To maintain our focus and serve our noble cause effectively, content and discussions should remain relevant to this purpose.
Community Guidelines
Respect and Kindness
- Treat all members with respect and kindness, as befitting our Islamic values.
- Use welcoming and inclusive language.
- Be patient and understanding with one another.
- Remember that we are all striving on our journey of faith.
Supportive Environment
- Offer help, encouragement, and resources when you can.
- Share beneficial knowledge and experiences.
- Celebrate the achievements and progress of fellow members.
- Be mindful that members may be at different stages in their journey.
Accessibility
- Share content in accessible formats.
- Provide descriptions for images and visual content.
- Be patient with those using assistive technology.
- Use clear, straightforward language.
Staying Focused
- Keep discussions relevant to blind and low vision Muslims.
- Content should be beneficial to our community's purpose.
- Avoid off-topic discussions that distract from our mission.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following are not permitted:
- Disrespectful or hurtful comments toward any member.
- Content unrelated to our community's purpose.
- Sharing others' private information without permission.
- Any behavior contrary to Islamic ethics and manners.

Our Intention
By the grace of Allah, supporting one another in good causes is highly rewardable. We strive to be a means of helping improve the lifestyle of blind and low vision Muslims while earning the reward of Allah for doing so.
